Sandhill Regional Library System cardholders now have access to Freading, a new eBook service with over 20,000 titles available. An unlimited number of cardholders may download a Freading eBook at the same time so there are no holds needed and, best of all, there’s no waiting!
Freading is compatible with almost all eReader devices, including iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Kindle Fire, Nooks, and Kobo eReaders. Instructions on downloading books to specific eReader devices are available here.
To access Freading, go to https://srls.freading.com. After clicking on the Log In tab at the top right-hand side of the page, you will be asked to enter your library card number. If your card has not been active in the past five years, you will need to contact your local library to have it updated before Freading will work.
You will also need to create a free account with Adobe Digital Editions before getting started.
Each SRLS cardholder is allotted 10 tokens each week which may be used to download eBooks. Books range in value from 1 to 4 tokens, with most newer titles “costing” 4 tokens. New titles are added on a weekly basis, and most eBooks may be renewed for “free” (without using additional tokens).
Still have questions? You may also check out the FAQ section of the Freading website for answers.
SRLS customers have access to Open Library which is a e-book loan service through NC Live - http://www.nclive.org. Open Library allows customers to check out e-books for use for 2 weeks and sometimes a renewal is allowed if no other customers are waiting for the title. You will be required to setup an account in Open Library. If you are using NC Live from a computer outside our libraries, you will be required to choose Sandhill Regional Library as your location and enter your library card number to gain access to the website. click on the Ebooks tab that is located on the top half of the website. Open Library will give instructions on how to setup your account and access their ebooks.
